Where do Bees go in the Winter
When temperatures drop around 50 degrees honeybees stay within there hive in what is called a winter cluster which means they get into a big huddle. The colder the temperature the closer they huddle together. The object of this clustering is to keep warm, so warm that the center where the queen bee is kept is at about 80 degrees. The outer edge of the cluster is about 47 degrees. The worker bees create heat by shivering and they move back and forth between the inner part of the cluster and the outer part. This way no bee will freeze. I thought this was so interesting and it made me think about my center and how I should protect it and keep it warm when I am in the winter of my life. We all know that we go through different seasons in our lives, but how often are you preparing for your winter. Some of our winters may include financial hardships, facing death or illness, divorce, the lost of a job,or anything else us as human being have to struggle with. The question I ask you today is how are you preparing for your winter? How can you be proactive instead of reactive? Try not to wait until you are in the winter of your life to start gathering. If you are more likely to face a financial winter then when you are in the spring of your finances, take a class on how to budget your money or start up a savings account. Even if you feel secure in your job, keep your resume updated and fresh and always be open to new opportunity. If you are currently in a good relationship or your marriage is going great, you should still learn about how to keep a relationship healthy or learn better ways to communicate with your partner. Trust me in the mist of a big fight, reading a book on how to maintain a great relationship is the last thing you want to do. You are more likely to use that book as a weapon. All of these resources I am mentioning, books, seminars, life coaches. help to better prepare you to survive the hard times. It is essential that you keep your center, that inner queen, warm and free from harm.
